We are Future Artists, an award winning Film Company/Media Collective based in Manchester, we make thought provoking cinema by collaborating with our audience, and we need your help!
Welcome to our upcoming project: ‘The Beatles – Young and Reckless in Hamburg’
In short, we plan to make a documentary film over the next year, following the early stages of The Beatles career spent in Hamburg, 1960-1962, these were the formative years of The Beatles, and are poorly documented so far.
As well as The Beatles, our Documentary will also be following various other bands, all part of the Hamburg scene revolving around The Beatles in the early 60s (some say this was the birth place of European Rock n Roll).
The film will also portray the true work ethic of musicians, and how The Beatles really did put in the time and effort in Hamburg to achieve their lasting world fame. As well as being rich in content, it is also a top priority of ours to produce a film which is accurate, one which represents the Rock n Roll scene of Hamburg with faithful authenticity.
For the past 6 months we have been recruiting Beatles experts from across the globe to assist us in this, and of course such a project could not come about without support from the vast Beatles community out there.

We’ve been gathering stories and experiences from Beatles fans/experts, compiling this archive of Hamburg Beatles info and, slowly but surely, separating fact from fiction. The response we’ve had has been extremely positive and exciting so far, but now we’re planning on taking this project to the next level, and we need your help.
We’re hoping to raise $20,000 to get this project off the ground and into production as soon as possible. This is where you the Beatles fans come in, besides crowd sourcing information and research, we are able to offer some exclusive and limited perks.
When you donate to the project, it enables us to drive the project forward, and in return you will receive a perk. We’d like to encourage all contributors to very much become part of our team over the next year, after all, like you we are Beatles fans who want to see a film made. You will be able to follow the progress of the film via our social media sites and through various Beatles events throughout the UK.
Every donation (apart from the smallest perk) will see your name in the films credits (making you part of The Beatles story!) in addition to this you will also get an official ‘Beatles Hamburg Film Certificate’, as well as the perk you purchase and a digital copy of the film.
This initial funding is essential for the Pre-Production stage of the film, and will put our team into a good position to kickstart this project and get the ball rolling.
Every dollar we raise we can match-fund with development money available to UK film productions. So think of it this way, every dollar we can raise here, will be doubled!
We also have a couple of traditional film investors who will potentially back the project, but we need to show that there is support from the Beatles fans first, classic chicken and egg scenario.
In terms of research and development we’ve had a massive response from Beatles fans and enthusiasts, and managing these hundreds of email/Skype conversations takes up a lot of our time. The bottom line is we need to make this our full time job if we’re to deliver the best film we can.
In return for your early stage support we’re offering a range of perks related to The Beatles or the film itself, including the following:
- Digital, DVD, and Blu-Ray copies of the film, upon its release.
- Limited edition Film Poster.
- Limited numbered artwork prints of original, unseen Stuart Sutcliffe painting, and fan-made ‘Hamburg Beatles Caricature’
- Signed copies of ‘The Beatles – From Cavern to Star Club’ by Hans Olof Gotfridsson
- Signed copies of ‘The Beatles – Fact and Fiction’ by Eric Krasker
- The opportunity to be an extra in the film!
Authors Eric Krasker and Hans Olof Gottfridsson have kindly got involved with this project and are signing limited copies of their books, ‘Fact and Fiction’ by Eric and ‘From Cavern to Star Club’ by Hans. Both of these books mainly cover the Hamburg days of The Beatles which we will be documenting.
