Paul McCartney has unveiled details about his forthcoming album, “Kisses On The Bottom,” which pays tribute to a dozen standards he loved as youth.
Recorded throughout 2011 at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles, New York City and London with the help of Grammy Award-winning producer Tommy LiPuma, the album contains 12 classic songs, listed below, as well as two original tracks, “My Valentine” and “Only Our Hearts,” featuring special guests Eric Clapton and Stevie Wonder, respectively.
A deluxe disc featuring two bonus songs, “Baby’s Request” and “My One And Only Love,” will be available beginning Feb. 14 at McCartney’s website.
“It was important for me to keep away from the more obvious song choices,” McCartney explained in a press release. “So many of the classic standards will be unfamiliar to some people. I hope they are in for a pleasant surprise.”
For the first time ever, McCartney contributed vocals only, leaving all instrumentation to Diana Krall and her band.
