“The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine (Anymore)” is written by Bob Crewe and Bob Gaudio. It was originally released as a single by Frankie Valli in 1965 on the Smash label and has been recorded by numerous artists since, including The Walker Brothers, Cher and Keane.
The Walker Brothers (Scott Engel, John Maus and Gary Leeds) were an American trio that hit big in the UK from 1965-1967. At one time, their fan club was bigger than the Beatles. “The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine (Anymore)” was their second #1 hit in 1966. The enigmatic lead singer, Scott Walker, later had a very successful solo career and has been cited as influential to many British recording artists including David Bowie and Radiohead.
